What's the difference between servant and green leaders? Servant leaders claim to have a different model of leadership, but being a green leader just means showing leadership on green issues. Like green leaders, servant leaders also champion a cause: service to others, but doing so doesn't entail a unique model of leadership.

One of my reasons for criticizing servant leadership is to get away from ALL concepts of leadership that portray it as a role in charge of people. My aim is to develop a model of leadership that includes bottom-up leadership.

Servant leadership is a confused idea that is preventing us from reaping the full potential of leadership. We need to stop romanticizing leadership so it can blossom in mundane contexts and be shown by employees with no desire to serve anything or anybody.

The servant leadership bandwagon is still on track but needs to be derailed. It's a bad idea because it's paternalistic and gets in the way of employee engagement.
